In October 31, 1895, letter, Verne declines to be interviewed, pleading bad health especially problems with his eyes. An attached tear out shows reprints of photos and paintings of Verne at various ages from 20 to 60 and a reprint of a portrait sketched in pen and ink. Undated clippings are 1) a brief biographical sketch (ca. 1908) and 2) a long paragraph entitled "Jules Verne's Manner" desribing Verne's quiet, modest, and unassuming manner ("friendly and affable").
